Whopper Bar South Beach, Miami - A Burger and a Beer

whopper-bar-beer Whopper Bar South Beach, Miami - A Burger and a Beer

Burger King announced that they will be opening a Whopper Bar in South Beach, Miami in Mid-February that will serve Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors beer. This South Beach, Miami Whopper Bar will also offer delivery service. However, beer is not going to be on the delivery menu. While this idea sounds extreme, it is not too foreign of an idea to our brethren on the other side of the globe. Burger Kings in Germany have been serving beer in their establishments. Why not the USA? If you haven’t heard of Whopper Bar before here is a little info on the only existing one in Orlando:

Customers can customize their Whopper, Double Whopper or Steakhouse XT burger with up to 22 different toppings, including steak sauce, smoked bacon and guacamole. Burger King workers will add the toppings in front of customers for a sushi bar-like atmosphere.

There also will be a “Bar Favorites” menu, with three new burgers from the nation’s No. 2 burger chain — the Bourbon Whopper, Three-Cheese Steakhouse XT and Pepper Bacon Steakhouse XT.

Much smaller than a traditional Burger King restaurant, the Orlando location features an open kitchen and circular countertop. And breaking with the orange and red color scheme of other Burger Kings, it will be done in red, black and gray. Source: USA Today

A burger combo meal with fries and a beer will cost you $7.99. Only $2 more than a combo meal that comes with a soda. Though I think this move will not appeal to the 50 and older crowds, I truly believe that the 35 and under crowds will love the idea. The only issue I have with this concept is that Burger King will contribute to the population of drunk drivers on the road. Think about it. Most of the times when we go to eat fast food we drive to the fast food restaurant. Rarely does anybody walk to Burger King or McDonald’s. With that said, how do you think we’re going to get home after we’re done eating? In that same vehicle we drove there in. Bad times.

Burger King has already announced its future plans to open Whopper Bar’s with beer service in hot spots such as New York’s Times Square, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

“This South Beach, Miami Whopper Bar will also offer delivery service.”

I am so skeptical when fast food places offer that. McDonald’s had that back in the 80s. They ran tv commercials & had posters about it at my local McDonald’s. But when we called they said, “Oh sorry, we can’t delivery to you, even though you’re less than 2 miles from our store.”

Who the hell wants to eat burger king when they’re on south beach? I’m sure you can have a beer with way better food in south beach. I’d eat south beach street hot dogs over BKM

Megan - I hate McDonald’s and I am starting to hate every other fast food restaurant slowly but surely. Maybe it’s a sign of me becoming older. Oh, I will make a great crazy old man one day. Anyhow, even though I had these FF places I would love to have delivery service for those drunken nights when I shouldn’t be driving. That’s one reason I wished I lived in NY. Just a hop, skip and a jump a way from late night food.

MACK - I never been to South Beach, but I will have to agree with you. I’m not going to Rome so I can have Taco Bell.

I’m not much for fast food now, either. ‘Cuz my criteria for eating out has become “will there be plenty of vegetables on the menu ? I am craving vegetables.” I should start packing for Shady Pines pretty soon, I suppose

Forreal though, getting older, I have veggie cravings that I’ve never had before. Like I find myself asking friends, “So, should I bring the aspargus or the salad to the BBQ this weekend?”. And they kinda look at me with that “go back to hippieland you hippie. and stop dodging the draft”.

That’s why I’ve started growing my own veggies & spices as much as I can. Even a simple green onion starter like this is great to have around to add veggies to your dishes:

and they came out really well. I’ve been able to harvest from my plant about every other week since Christmas
