The Weekend: The New Weekday

May 16th, 2008 · No Comments

Friday 3:00pm; soon you will be liberated from the shackles of “the routine” and you will be free to roam the planet. A faint taste of beer hops is formulating in your mandible and the pursuit of someone to trade uglies with will be under way shortly. THE WEEKEND IS HERE! I’m not Miss Chleo nor am I a con-artist psychic trying to swindle your greenbacks, but please allow me to predict what you’ll be getting into this weekend.

Friday: go to the club/bar, party or chill some where to release liquor into your system.

Saturday: wake up at 11AM’ish, possibly go out to eat and then do what you did on Friday.

Sunday: marinate at home, watch grown men tackle each other on television and maybe do laundry or wash the car. Look for value price hookers (optional every other Sunday).

I bet my predication is fairly close, eh?

Now, use that thing your skull protects and think for a California second. If you have so much anticipation for the weekend during the weekday then why in god’s name (Jesus, Buddha, Satan, Mussolini…whoever your favorite player is) are your weekends just as routine as your weekdays? Hmmmmm? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not a rocket scientist. In fact, I am just a licensed dentist that can only practice on two small Caribbean islands. I don’t have to be the smartest man on Earth to inform you that weekends are made to destroy weekday activities. Weekends are not made so you can make another “routine” out of them. Try diving into different activities each weekend so when you come into work on Monday you feel rejuvenated and reborn. You can actually get this same feeling from heroin use, but only for the first few months.

So, this Friday when the tick-tocker strikes clock out time, I want you to do this simple task: get in your vehicle, turn on a radio station you never listen to and take a route home that you’ve never taken before. That’s a good first step on your path to reclaim your weekends. Then when you step into the door give your wife (or girlfriend) a high five and say, “their’s more where that came from”.

Cheers for Beers!

Caleb
