Sher Punjab Authentic Indian Cuisine; San Diego, CA (Sorrento Valley)

July 2nd, 2008 · 4 Comments

I love Indian woman, Bollywood films,  The Kama Sutra,  and Apu from the Simpsons. So, I don’t know why it took me so long to finally dive into Indian food. My first impression is that the aroma of the spices used is very heavy. Not heavy in a bad way, just heavy as in the scent could probably go head on with gale force winds during Alaskan king crab season. I also noticed that the use of veggies are very apparent in Indian dishes…and if you are a man of your libido than you should be a man of your veggies. The one thing that that I really enjoyed is dipping the naan (Indian style bread similar to pita bread) into the sauce and just taking a bite out of crime. Overall, I give the Indian food at Sher Punjab’s two sexual positions up. I definitely will be returning with appetite in stomach and debit card in hand.

The foodcourt in Sorrento Valley has a really good indian place too. The place is called SItar Indian Cuisine, and it’s in the corner of the food court between the Vietnamese Pho place and Tiki Hut. At Sitar, try the safed masala with chicken, it’s a curry with almond and coconut. I’ve tried Sher Punjab, if you like that place, you’ll go nuts at Sitar.

Do I detect another member of the suit and tie army of the Sorrento Valley branch? Well, you’re a young lady, so more of a blouse and perfume army.

I’ve always wanted to try the Sitar place, but it is always too packed and I only have a 30 minute lunch. I love how they bake the naan right in front of your face. However, I love the Pho place. Not only for the food, but sometimes they have nice young ladies over the counter that I can chat with. It’s a calm relief amongst the day’s grind.

Hah Hah! Yeah I’m in the area, I don’t know how often you go to the food court.. but here is the 411 on the places I dig. Salad farm has bomb potato salad made, it has the brown mustard dots in it, you know what I mean? The yogurt has been a good lunch for me on a hot day..Plain yogurt with almonds and mango. Sipz thai curry with “chicken” is really good too! The pho place used to have a vegi bahn mi with mushroom pate (they don’t make it anymore, maybe you can ask one of those fine young ladies for the recipe :) ) but they still have BBQ bean curd that is good. As far as the nice young ladies at the counter, I agree. Today I had an eggplant sandwich for the pizza place, and I had the rosemary chicken yesterday.

A few places I just want to mention just around Sorrento Valley, Corner House, get the Iron man Sandwich. and The Grille and Market for their Chicken teriyaki bowl with veggies, no rice, and sauce on the side.

I just wanted to spread the foodie love!!

Wow, you have done your homework!! I’ve heard about the salad place, but I’ve never found it.

Yes, the grille and market has the best club sandwhiches and teriyaki bowl.

Don’t you just hate how you can only get so far in an hour’s lunch? It’s like we only have a small radius of freedom before we have to bow our heads in defeat as we drag our feet into the office.

Hmmmm, I wonder if their are any secret spots in Sorrento.
