Oh yes…Knockout Pizzeria is a knockout artist. Nestled in the Sorrento Valley/Mira Mesa area of San Diego, Knockout Pizzeria is the current title holder of San Diego’s best NY pizza. New York pizza in California??? Well, if California can have sushi, which originated in Japan, then it’s not so far fetched that a slice of NY pie exists in The Golden State. Speaking of Golden State…Chris Mullin had the meanest flat top in the game. The only person that could compete in the flat top game is Guile from Street Fighter II.

The pursuit for good food is a continuous uphill battle while at work. With all the various delis, cafes, burger joints, weak ass Chinese food places, and salad spots that surround Sorrento Valley it’s hard to find a great slice of pizza in the radius of a 30 minute lunch. Honestly, I found myself at Knockout Pizzeria during today’s lunch because they are the only pizza spot that I can drive to on my lackluster lunch hour. Though I knew this place existed many years ago, I never had a reason to stop in. I never had a jones’in for a pizza this bad while at work…until today. So, Knockout Pizzeria I ventured. I expected to have a mediocre slice of pizza that consisted of canned tomatoes and cheese that would be found at an elementary school cafeteria. Instead I was treated to a less than greasy slice of pizza with cheese that stunk. As all of my cheese lovers know, cheese that stinks is cheese that stinks GOOD. I took these pictures with my cell phone so it doesn’t do the pizza justice.

The best thing about Knockout Pizzeria is that they have a Japanese guy on the pizza box. What a well rounded pizza joint! So exotic!

I can say Knockout Pizzeria’s pizza is great until Tupac comes back home. I can say it until Elvis Presley (or his zombie) comes back from the his trip to Cuba. I can say it until vagina is no longer the pursuit of a heterosexual male. However, you will not agree with me until you had a slice of this pie. So, do yourself a favor. Have a slice of Knockout Pizzeria pizza, climb your roof, eat your pizza, and then jump off your roof. I promise you the pizza feels way better than the fall will.
