I Heart Curry

I heart curry. Is there any other way to say it? Well, I could say I liver curry, but that wouldn’t make much sense. My love of curry started in 1986 with Utah Jazz shooting guard Dell Curry. Man, was he swift; like an African-American angel had fallen upon the hardwood to gently place basketballs in between orange metal rims. My passion for curry continues with the strength of two Mr. T’s and one Mrs. T…and one Mr. Lower Case T. So, here is an easy and delicious curry recipe for you to throw down your throat:

INGREDIANTS
2 cups of water
2 oz. pack of curry powder (I used mild curry. You can use whatever your mind and wallet allows you to use)
Crushed red pepper (use as much as you want)
Cheyenne pepper (if you want to spice up your meal) *optional*
2 Chicken leg quarters
1 Potato (sliced)
1 Red Pepper (sliced)
Half an onion (chopped)
Your ingrediants. Hooray!!!

Introducing: Your sexy chicken quarters. Yes, it is true you smart alecks, that we could just use chicken breasts; however, if you want to keep it as cheap as possible you can use chicken quarters because they only go for about 89 cents a pound. With the money you save you can finally pay your child support. Thus, avoiding a long overdue trip to your local penitentiary.

Boil chicken in water for about 5-10 minutes so it makes peeling the skin and stripping the meat off the bone super duper easier.

Strip the skin off your chicken quarters and throw the skin away. Then strip the meat off the bone. Please don’t be tempted to eat the chicken yet because it wouldn’t be cooked through all the way at this point and you will get sick. So sick you will have to call off of work and they will fire you. Fortunately, you were working the french fry machine at Burger King so maybe you getting fired is a blessing in disguise.

BONUS: If you are cooking rice, you can strain the water you used to boil the chicken with and use it to cook your rice. This will give your rice a little extra “BAM!”

Take your pan and hit yourself over the hit with it to make sure it is made of the correct metal. After you wake up pour 2 cups of water in the pan, add all curry powder, and throw your chicken strips into the mix. NOTE: “Chicken Strips” was my ex-stripper name.
Set this mix to a boil. When the mix starts to boil, lower the heat and cover.

 curry6 I Heart Curry
While your chicken is boiling in the curry mix cut up your veggies. I leave the skin on my potatoes because I just like the skin. Most people peel the skin off. And you people are idiots. Haha, just kidding. Skin off, skin off…it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is you use condoms when you fornicate.

 curry7 I Heart Curry
Throw the potatoes in the mix first. Potatoes tend to cook slower than the rest of your veggies. Let this mix cook for 5 minutes.

 curry8 I Heart Curry
Then throw in the rest of your veggies and spices. I used crushed red pepper, ground black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mmmmmmm look at that. Chicks dig it.
Cover and let cook. Remember, don’t cook by rumble boiling. Rumble boiling is when you have the heat on high and the water is just bouncing up and down wilding. Instead, you’re going to boil your mixture on low to low medium heat. This will allow the curry mix to slow cook into the chicken and veggies. A good way to test if your meal is ready is to take a fork and poke the potato. If the fork effortlessly goes in the potato and out the other end of the potato than your meal is ready. If you poke the fork in the potato and it gets stuck inside the potato than let it cook for a little longer.

what a coincidence! I just made chicken curry last night for dinner, but used chicken thighs.

great tip about boiling the chicken first a little bit to make it easier to work with! also great about re-using that water to cook rice! this is fabulous, not only do we not waste the water but add flavour to the rice!

you guys are great! i love this blog, will be looking forward to more posts!
