I have found to love myself. No, not in the nasty joke way. Well 20% in the nasty joke way (because it’s the waaaay funnier way) and 80% in the literal way (the not so funny poetical way). I read a quote in class a couple weeks ago and it went something to the tune of:
“Solitude is chosen. Loneliness is not.”
When I first read this quote I was like, “What kind of 1969 Summer of Love propaganda is this?”. Then it happened. WARNING: This is about to get all hippie. A couple weeks ago I found myself sitting in a room amongst some of my coolest (cool meaning thumbs up; not cool meaning temperature) compadres and I found myself surrounded by an intense loneliness. I mean, I farted and stuff, however, that couldn’t be the only reason why I felt this wall of loneliness. Hmmmmm, I really don’t know how to explain the feeling. Imagine, all of a sudden, having an invisible box being thrown over you; it’s kinda like that. No pity for me needed though cause then my buddy threw me a Bud Light, called me something derogatory, chucked a throw pillow at my face, and the feeling of loneliness quickly was dismissed. Still a weird event though.
Anybody else ever feel this way?

Don’t worry, the above story will be relative soon enough. So, a couple days ago I was sitting at home with nothing to do and had an itch to watch a movie. To make a long hippie, poetical story short (and to allow me to get on with this review), I went to see the movie “The Watchmen” and enjoyed the solitude. Nobody to nag me with opinions. Nobody to drop off after the movie. Nobody to split the check with. Nobody to tell me that wearing a trench coat in an empty theater is weird. It was all about me and I loved it. Now I am grasping solitude every chance I get. Take a look at the above picture. That is me a few hours ago at Friend’s House Korean in the Kearny Mesa of San Diego. No, not at my friend’s house that is Korean, but the place is called Friend’s House Korean. Nice!

I ordered the fried flat fish. It came with seven (yes, seven) side dishes consisting of all pickled veggies except for the side of spiced tofu and a tin of rice. The side dishes were fantastic because they all had their own distinct taste. Definitely a prize for my pallet. The flat fish tasted good, however, they could have let the fish sit on some napkins before serving to obsorb the frying oil. The fish was quite greasy; like a jerry curl worn by somebody who hasn’t taken a shower in days. The whole meal came to $9 + $3 tip = $12 and some change. Not too shabby.

I don’t expect my waiters/waitresses to do back-flips for me so I would say the pretty, young lady did her job well. Another good thing about Friend’s House Korean is they stay open until 1030pm. Great for the late night eaters.

Would I recommend this place? Sure. To be honest with you, if other restaurants were open late night I would rather go to them, but that’s not to say Friend’s House Korean isn’t a place you should eat at once - or twice. If you’re ever in the area you can find them at 4647 Convoy Street, San Diego, CA 92111.
